Christabel is an award-winning journalist, podcasting executive, and editorial consultant.

She’s passionate about using her platform to bridge the gap between underrepresented audio creators and the podcast industry. 

 

She’s currently the Lead of Spotify’s “Sound Up: Behind the Mic” fellowship for Black early-career podcasters. Her participants in her program learn how to shape content that reflects the world we live in on popular podcasts. They also learn how to produce high-quality, authentic content. Her mentees have gone on to work with Gimlet, popular NPR shows, and Hollywood projects. She’s also the host of the podcast, ‘The Cipher.’

Christabel has produced critically-acclaimed broadcast, and digital shows for American Public Media, KCET, the BBC, Macro, and the Webby-award nominated podcast, Sista Brunch

Before this, Christabel was an award-winning radio journalist. She ran news shows for National Public Radio and Public Radio International. She has reported from Africa, the United Kingdom, and the United States. In addition, Christabel has produced interviews with global icons like Hugh Masekela. Her writing on cultural representation in the media has appeared in British Vogue and The Independent.
