Christabel is a respected editorial leader known for broadening cultural narratives in the radio and podcast industries and film. Christabel is currently the Lead of Spotify’s “Sound Up: Behind the Mic” fellowship for Black early-career podcasters, which she also developed for the company. She is also the Founding, and Executive Producer of the Webby-award nominated podcast, Sista Brunch.
She also develops editorial strategies for podcasters through My Lens Media. Her past clients include American Public Media, the BBC, and Macro.
Before her career in podcasting, Christabel was an award-winning global radio journalist and editorial manager for National Public Radio and Public Radio International. She has reported from Africa, the United Kingdom, and the United States. She has produced interviews with cultural icons like Hugh Masekela, reported on detentions at Guantanamo Bay, and reported from a Hurricane Katrina-ravaged Gulf Coast one year after the flood. Christabel is well-known for her incisive and thoughtful analysis of the impact of cultural representation in the media on society. She has written on the topic for British Vogue and The Independent and appeared on ABC’s Nightline.
