The series premiered on Marketplace in January 2020. Hear profiles from Arlan Hamilton, Aimée Felone, Bertha Jimenez, and Kelly Peeler.

The Media Disruptors (Public Radio International, 2017) was created as the #metoo movement and the Women’s March dominated public discourse. However, this was also a time when women of color required the media and the Women’s movement to amplify their voices. Inspired by this, Christabel talked to women who stood at the intersection of these experiences — women of color in the media about how they used their platforms to raise awareness about issues others often ignored. The series includes interviews with BAFTA award-winning director Amma Asante, Hollywood trailblazer Joanelle Romero, sociologist Nancy Wang Yuen, April Reign, the creator of the hashtag #OscarsSoWhite.

Christabel developed the editorial tone of “Make Me Smart,” the top-rated Amazon Alexa skill from Marketplace.
